A Rare Diet

  • Isaac's Aunt Jen is about to have a baby. One morning we were looking at her blog, and she had posted a picture of herself looking down at her bare belly. Isaac asked me what she was doing, and I told him that she was looking at her belly because there was a baby in there. I could tell he was a little confused, because the next thing he asked me was, "Did she eat that baby?"

Ugly Guys

  • Isaac was having an "off" night, and we were talking about what happens when you're naughty. I told him that if he was naughty at school, he would have to go to the principal's office. His eyes got real big and he said, "Are there ugly guys in there?" I found this especially funny since my dad is a high school vice principal.

Finally. . .

I'm finally posting a few new Isaac stories here! I've been absent for a long time, I know. I'll try to be better about sharing stories. I love to go back and read them, and it is a great way to preserve these moments that make us laugh!

Isaac the Great!

  • The book fair is coming to Isaac's school, so we told him we were giving him $5 to spend at the book fair tomorrow. Isaac's response: "You mean like 5 dollar foot long?"

  • Isaac was playing on the floor with Oliver, and Oliver sneezed. Isaac looked at me and said, "Mommy! Oliver rained on me!"

  • We've been reading Bible stories (from a children's Bible) to Isaac every night at bedtime. Each story has a theme such as patience, obedience, honoring your parents, etc. . . that we also talk about. The story of Jonah's theme was obedience. We talked a lot about how you should obey your parents and obey God. A few nights later we read a story about honoring your parents and how Jesus honored his parents by leaving the temple when they asked him to. We had not discussed Jonah at all this night. . . As I was leaving Isaac's room he said, "Hey Mommy! Jonah did NOT honor his parents!" Oh, and by the way, I now threaten attack via whale/big fish for disobeying.

  • Isaac likes to pray at meals. It is ALWAYS the same prayer. . . one that he has come up with: "God is great, God is good. You just know about your friends and food and day and night. Amen." On Thanksgiving, Isaac wanted to pray. His prayer went like this: "God is great, God is good. You just know about your friends and food and day and night. And Santa Claus is coming to town tomorrow. Amen!"
